Today’s run provided sunshine, blue skies, a breeze of cool air, a few slippery spots from yesterday’s thaw that initally challenged your footing. Out and back course is flat. Well organized event, great home made goodies and sweet hot chocolate finished a fun run.

Fun race for a great cause (the Amana trail system)…the flat route is out and back. It is well-organized with nice door prizes (thanks to the Amana Furniture Shop, Running Wild, and other generous sponsors) and instead of a t-shirt, participants get a sampling of the Amana Meat Shop’s finest, which is certainly something different! A fun winter race!

This out and back race has improved over past years. Timing was accurate. The name” Amana Freezer “is so appropriate. It’s always very cold and the registration/post race is actually held in the appliance warehouse which is lined with real freezers! This year they even turned on the heat! The post race activities were fine. Good home made treats with hot chocolate. Nice doorprizes. Run in cooperation with the Winterfest was a great idea. A family could have a good day here in this unique historic Iowa landmark. There were unique activities such as a scavenger hunt, “ham toss”, ice sculpturing, spinning (the real thing – no bike), knitting, quilting and a marshmallow roast! Bring the kids. A meat treat from the Amana Butcher Shop was very welcome and nice local encouragement. Running Wild contributed to the door prizes. Cost was enough for a race without shirts. This is a good winter race and worth considering.

Good race. Wish you would have had shirts, and for those that don’t want shirts a “no shirt option”. Other than that your post race food was fabulous. Great door prizes. Thank you Running Wild for being a sponsor, love your store. Thank you for having your awards and post race door prizes indoors because it was super cold out.

I wish the race would have been on the snow covered trail. Oh well, it was still fun…but very cold. Great idea having Winterfest the same day. The millstream beer was a great post race refreshment!

Race does not start at the general store. It starts at “General Store Appliances”, which is behind the Woolen Mill. It’s less confusing to just say “behind the Woolen Mill”.
