The Ames Area Running Club (AARC) is a union of 100+ area runners with the purpose to promote better health and friendship through all levels of running, jogging and walking.
AARC members produce the following:
- Run for the Roses, a 5k and 10k road race, is a combined effort with the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority to raise money for arthritis research. The event occurs every fall.
- Social Functions
- Weekly Running Groups
- 15% discounts at Fitness Sports of Des Moines
- Car pooling to out of town events
- Frozen Foot Circuit, a gathering of AARC members in the winter months. The group meets at a member’s home for a run or walk of various distances (1 – 7 miles). Afterwards they have refreshments and socialize.
