Description: The K9 Unit of the Marion Police Department was established in 1998 through generous contributions from the community and remains funded through donations. Our K9 unit consists of three Belgian Malinois that specialize in drug detection or bomb/firearm detection. All dogs are also trained to conduct building searches, assist in tracking/apprehending suspects, and other general patrol functions. Ongoing costs include training, veterinary expenses, equipment and supplies, and replacement of dogs when necessary. We appreciate your support in helping our K9 Unit continue to be at the disposal of local school districts and other law enforcement agencies and communities in eastern Iowa as needed.

Dam to Downtown

Where: Coralville Dam to Downtown Iowa City, 151 S. Dodge St (College Green Park), Iowa City, IA 52240

Distance: 10k

Description: Given that the race is point to point, buses will be available to transport runners to the start of the race. Buses depart between 6:30 and 7:15 AM. You may park your vehicle on the street or in the parking ramp two blocks east of College Green park. Of course, if you have arrangements to get back out to the dam after the run (or if you want to have twice the fun and run back) then you can leave your car at the dam. Parking will be available in the spillway near the west end of the dam.

The course begins at the West end of the Coralville Dam. Runners will head East off of the Dam and then down Prairie Du Chein Road. The course is rolling and scenic and finishes at College Green Park which is located just East of downtown Iowa City.

Cash prizes will be given to the overall TOP 3 male and female runners. 1st place is $200, 2nd place is $150, and 3rd place is $100. Also, medals will be awarded to the top 2 male and female runners in each of the following age groups: 18 and under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60+.

Viking 5k Fun Run

The Bonecrusher

Distances: 8 hr and 12 hr or approximately 40 miles and 60 miles

Description: The 1st annual “BOONECRUSHER”, 8 and 12 hour expedition style, unsupported Iowa adventure race will involve paddling, trail running/trekking, mountain biking and navigation.

The 40 or 60 mile course will be located in state forests, state parks, Historic sites, and private lands.

This Iowa adventure race will take place in epic Des Moines river valley near Boone, Iowa. The diverse terrain is sure to challenge all endurance levels. Be ready for some unbeliveable scenery and extreme challenges. You better go for broke or you will get broken!

Never adventure raced before? Don’t worry we will offer a free clinic to anyone that signs up for the race.
