Description: Celebrate hometown of Johnny Carson. The half marathon, like the other races, follows an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at 801 Riverside Boulevard, just a few blocks away from Norfolk’s City Square Park. From there, runners head out on what is roughly a clockwise loop route, starting off with a brief stretch along Riverside followed by turns on Benjamin Avenue, North 1st Street, Eisenhower Avenue, North Victory Road and East Norfolk Avenue before making the final turn on North 4th Street to head back to the start/finish line area.

Where: Brownlee Road, 40 miles south of Valentine, Nebraska

Description: The Sandhills Marathon begins near the west end of the Brownlee Road, where it meets Highway 97, between Mullen and Valentine.  The Road, a one-lane blacktop, winds southeast through the beautiful Wamaduze Valley until it reaches the town of Brownlee (unincorporated), then runs east along the north bank of the North Loup River.  The course finishes on Highway 83, between Mullen and Valentine.

The course is mainly flat with the road traveling through valleys between rolling Sandhills on either side.  There are a few hills, but only a couple that are substantial.

Where: Pleasant Creek State Park is located 12 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids in eastern Iowa. To reach the park: From I-380 take exit #24 (Blairs Ferry Road) and head west to Palo (approximately six miles), turn north on County road W36 and follow signs.  Closest airport to the park is the Eastern Iowa Airport.  It is located about 30 minutes from the race site.

Swim: Wave starts begin at 7:30 a.m. sharp. The .5K (500M) course is an out-and-back swim from Pleasant Creek State Park swimming beach. Boats and safety personnel will be on the lake at all times. Wet suits will be allowed as per USA Triathlon rules.

Bike: Our challenging 25K (15.5 mile) bike course will take you through Iowa’s scenic countryside.  All bikers must have an ANSI approved helmet to participate. Bikers without helmets will not be allowed on the course. No drafting allowed; marshals will patrol the entire course.

Run: The 5K (3.1 mile) run includes several small, rolling hills and is totally within the confines of the park on paved roads.

Details: Time-Trial swim start format.  Elite athletes and teams will start in waves beginning at 7:30 a.m.  All other athletes will start in a Time-Trial format.

Burlington Youth Triathlon

Where: Dankwardt Park, 2700 Block S. Main St., Burlington, IA 52601
Description: Swim, bike and run! Great River Medical Center and Team Beast will host the Annual Burlington Youth Triathlon. Swim in the Burlington City Pool (outdoors), bike within Dankwardt and Crapo Parks, run on sidewalks, streets, and grass around the baseball fields. Certified lifeguards will be in the pool. A bike helmet is required at all times while on the bike. No drafting is allowed. A water station will be located near the transition area. Parents will be allowed into transition prior to the race.

Description: Copper Creek Triathlon features a challenging course for those new to the sport of triathlon or seasoned pros. Beautiful Copper Creek Lake Park, located in the heart of Pleasant Hill, will serve as host of the event.

• 750M Swim: A beach start, one loop, clockwise swim in crystal-clear Copper Creek Lake.
• Transition: The transition area is located south of Lakeside Fitness in the parking lot.
• 20K Bike: An out-and-back course traveling south through the community on Pleasant Hill Boulevard and     along the Des Moines River on Vandalia Drive. The course has several moderate hills. A bike support     vehicle will travel the course.
• 5K Run: The residential streets surrounding Copper Creek Golf Course, located directly east of Copper     Creek Lake Park, and the path around Copper Creek Lake will host the run portion of the event.

• AID STATIONS Water will be provided at approximately 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mile marks (for the 1/2).
