Description: Awards will only be granted to females. By participating in the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer, you’re helping to support free mammograms and other breast-care services to area women in need through the Especially for You fund. Since the race began in 1991, the fund has helped over 4,300 uninsured or under-insured women receive more than $1.1 million in breast-care services.
Breast cancer is most treatable and curable when detected in its earliest stages. Even so, breast cancer claims an estimated 40,610 lives each year. This number can be reduced when women practice early detection through breast self-examination, clinical breast exams and mammography.

@ Stacy keep in mind this race has been on Sunday for 21 years.. No need to switch to a saturday. Also this is a race to help fight breast cancer and get the proper treatment. People almost forget what they are running\walking for. It isn’t all about competition. There are plenty of races around town that could be 10k or 1/2 marathons. I suggest contact CVRA running and request it to them..
First time running in EFY. overall, great race, awesome flat course, weather was perfect this year!!!
few suggesions.
1. dry weave shirts, or at least the option to purchase.
2. chip time, for at least the runners. this event is way to big to be using the bib tags. the finish chute was pretty backed up.
3. hold this on a saturday morning. reallly no reason to hold a 5k event on a sunday morning,
4. ever thought of adding a 10k or half marathon. CR does not have much to offer in half marathons, i would think the interest would be there!
This was the second year for guys to be able to run with us girls and it seems to keep growing! I would highly recommend this race if you are wanting to go for a fun run. The organization of the start and end does not make it a good race to be competitive on. The after food is in a parking ramp and should be more open to allow for the large number of people. The course is nice and flat which allows for a good time.
This race had a huge turn out and was very organized. The only problem some people might have had was parking so I would car pool next year or run to the race if you live close by. It was nice to know that the profit from the race went to a good cause. Course was relatively flat. There was plenty to eat after the race. The 2009 race was very cold and I dressed as warm as possible, but it’s hard to predict weather during this time of year. Great race and I will definitely do it next year.
This race was excellent! Although the finish line was a bit tough to get through (we walked the last 30 yards), the course itself was spectacular. And yes, by far the best race packet EVER!
Overall a fantastic race with a huge turnout. As a male it was cool to be able to run, but still nice they only gave awards to women. I like the course too, very similar to the 5th Season race in Cedar Rapids. Best runner’s packet by far for a 5K!
Great race! Very organized, especially for such a turn out. Pretty flat course and for a GREAT cause!
