Results: 2011 8K, 2011 2 Mile

The bottom of the mornng to ya!
I agree with the comments. I have done this race (2-mile walk) for alot of years & this was the worst year. I heard they were doing 3 waves for the start…8k, 2 mi run, & 2 mi walk (there were overall awards for male/female walkers). I never did hear the 2 mile walk announced, had to ask at the start line if the 2 mile walkers were to start yet. Had to power walk around alot of slow walkers. When I got done, I told someone at the finish line that I was 1st female in & was basically told “so what, you don’t have a chip” & when I told her that this was for awards, she just said I had to talk to someone inside. Thank goodness, they recongized me & knew that I was winner from previous years. If the walk is for awards, then they should have chips for the walkers. Or if the walkers want to be timed, allow them to pay a little extra for chip timing. The results that were posted in the gym had the 8K & 2-mile listed together. Also the overall 8K winner was wrong until he went up & told them. Not much for food….water, orange drink, bananas & oranges….not much for as many people as there were. They could have least had bagels, cookies, donuts, etc with that many sponsers. Timer at the finish…YES!
I completely agree with ALL the previous comments. It was pretty chaotic and the shirts are hideous. Like one of the previous entries, this was my first and probably last gaelic gallop. It was pretty ridiculous that rollerbladers were allowed in the race…nothing like getting caught behind two rollerbladers and trying not to get get tripped up or trip them up. I would have sooner done without the chip timing if it meant i would atleast have my results.
Where are the results????
Clock needed @ the end…
Technical shirt would be nice…
Did someone say GO….I just went with the flow and hoped i didn’t get disqualified…
A few potholes could of been filled in…
Post race was @ the English Pub…wall 2 wall…
I agree on a couple points, primarily:
1). Couldn’t hear the announcements. Running the 2-mile, not clear when I needed to be out there and ready to go. Never did hear start/go/etc. Asked somebody running if they were 2-mile or 5-mile; When that cold and windy no need to be wandering around outside.
2). Not a serious runner, but one would think race results could have been posted by now.
3). Clock at finish line is a nice idea.
4). I didn’t get a shirt so don’t have an opinion on its’ design, but would agree that I have no idea who the sponsors were. They may not be getting any bang for their sponsorship buck. (Jersey Shore is about the most ridiculous show I have ever had the displeasure of viewing, however.)
I am not one to ever complian so I am glad the other 2 comments did it for me. I agree with them completely. Good job with the traffic, terrible job on the race its self, Honestly I can get over it, I loved the run it was great and an awsome challange with the wind but here is what bothers me most with this race and 70 percent of others like it…HOW Hard is it to post the damn results! you already had them in hand that day which means they are stored in a computer. Copy and paste it to a PDF and put them up so all the people that paid to come run knowing they are not winning squat can see how they stacked up. That drives me nuts, I could see if it was hard to do or something. And LOL and the comment about the shirts. I dont know if I would wear one of those as a jammie shirt around the house they are so ugly. I better stop, this complianing stuff is kinda fun
This was my first Gaelic gallop, it may be my last. There was a slight problem with the start of the race. I could not hear anything the announcer was saying, not even “start” or “go”! It was freezing cold and we stood out there and the race started late. Not much for food either. I didn’t know if the timing chips were supposed to be returned or thrown away. The traffic control was good during the race which is important. Haven’t seen race results posted yet but I know smaller town races usually take longer to post. If this was the 30th year, I can’t imagine what the first year was like.
Just wondering where the results are posted? I’ve searched many places online. Also, I was very disappointed that you guys did the age 7-11 Leprechaun Leap race early. On the Running wall you have posted it would be at 10a.m. BUT in your brochure it CLEARLY states you would hold that race at 10:15 a.m. When I asked this morning when it would be, two different race volunteers said it would be at 10:15a.m. I went to the bathroom at 10a.m. when I went outside around 10:08a.m. the race was ending. I missed my son running and I’m upset about it.
There are many things you needed to do better on this race, especially for having it going on for 30 years. Seriously where did all your race money go? The food was minimal, no race clock at the end. NO door prizes. Unorganized all over the place. No one could hear announcements. Many people were confused.
You did have traffic control, that was nice, but that seemed to be the ONLY thing going for your race.
No race packets? Why, you had about 20 sponsors. What did they do, give the race director money? Couldn’t you put things in packets for participants?
Then the race shirt, who designed it? So many people were asking, “Who the heck is that guy on our shirt.” Really a Jersey shore person. I’ve never watched that and don’t care to. Couldn’t you put a simple Shamrock or even a fancy Leprechaun on the shirt, or even your logo as printed above?
Please post the results soon. It’s sad that here it is several hours after the race and no one knows how they did.
