This was my first marathon and it was pretty amazing; the course was fairly flat with some rolling hills near the end and went through some really nice parts of town. I liked the video tour on the website as well! There was plenty of support from volunteers and community members (lots of entertainment and cheerleaders!). The pace team leaders were really helpful and did a great job keeping our group together. I highly recommend this race for a first time marathoner. The only part that I didn’t enjoy was the fact that the half-marathoners and marathoners were grouped together; the race was quite crowded up till when the half-marathoners split off.
I have done this race (Half Marathon distance) since its inception. This year will be the third year I have participated. It is well organized, fun, has great crowd support and you really get to see the whole town. 2011 should be even better as the race was sold to local ownership and one of the buyers is a running store. The race has friendly faces, fun spectators (Last year there was a crowd supported non race sponsored mimosa station along the course). There are a lot of newbies and a lot of experienced racers but it never seemed too crowded and it was all kinds of fun!
This was my first year for this race. I did the 1/2 marathon and it was good. Nice flat course and well marked. It was warm and could have used a few more water stops, but it was still ok. Good post race food and a nice finishers medal. I will definately do it again.
Today's run provided sunshine, blue skies, a breeze of cool air, a few slippery spots from yesterday's thaw that initally challenged your footing. Out and back course is flat. Well organized event, [...]
