The course was nice as it was small town residential and then in a rural/country setting for half of it. Really like running out in the open so that was neat and hills were a nice challenge without totally wiping me out. I hated that there were vehicles being allowed on the course!!! Also, there was a lack of organization before the race; someone was just shouting instructions and even when everyone was quiet, no one could hear anything she said. They didn’t have a start gun, just someone yelled, “okay go!”, the streets we ran on were lined with cars at the beginning, which bottlenecked everyone. I will run this race again, but I hope they do some improvements with their organization and the vehicles stay off the route! Vehicles crossing the street is one thing, but vehicles were on the route with the runners for several blocks. Also I saw some people cutting ahead a few blocks and still “finishing” the race. That was annoying to see.
This was my 7th 5k i have competed in this summer, and this being my first summer competing. As of this very moment this has become my favorite course. It started out flat for almost the first mile then had 2 medium sized hills, i loved not having to start or end with the hills. The people were very friendly and it was organized very well. I absouletly loved the shirts, i have received several shirts this summer with this being my favorite. The only complaint I had was I noticed that their were some car traffic through out the whole course, i had to continuesly watch over my shoulder as not to run out in front of a car. Durring the race I would rather concern my self with making the run, not with traffic. I will be running this race next year, and look forward to it.
