Good Things: Nice Shirt, Accurate Times, Very Organized at the start and finish. Finishers medals for the children, my daughter loved her medal. Times posted within minutes of everyone finishing the race.
Things that Need Improvement: More food at the finish and NOT food we have to buy. There should have been at least half bananas or quartered oranges for the runners. You had sponsors, just ask them to donate it.
With a race of this size and the age groups getting so large (ie: the 30-39 age group), having a 5 year age groups would be nice. A 30 year old usually runs a whole lot faster than a 39 year old on average so having 30-34 and then 35-39 would be a better age group category and a lot more fair in my opinion.
The turn around spot for the 2 mile needs to be better marked or talked about somehow. There were 3 girls that I saw that turned around at the 1mile time clock and they were clearly confused if they should do that or not, and that area was clearly NOT the turnaround spot. There wasn’t anyone at the time clock to say keep going if you are 2 milers.
I ran the 5K and knew not to turn around and way up ahead from the time clock there was a lady yelling if you are 2 mile turn around at the cones ahead and if you are 5K go to the dam. However there needs to be a sign at the time clock for those 2 milers to keep going up ahead, because it makes me wonder how many others did the same thing. It clearly was way less than a mile on the way back from the 1 mile time clock so those people that turned around at the time clock cheated.
This is a very well run event. The organizers do a great job of getting the results back both accurately and quickly.
It was great fun for adults and kids alike day care is also provided. Great job by all. Thank you also to the sponsors of the event. See you all nest year!!!
I thought it was a great race, with a flat and fast course. It was the 1st annual but it seemed like those who were in charge did a fantastic job and results came shortly after the last walker was finished. $15.00 for pre registration and you get a t-shirt and this year adding two kids races, a 1k and a 400m with massage afterward taking only tips you cannot go wrong.
