Where: AP High School Track, located on Johnson Rd., Parkersburg, IA (bathrooms available on site)
Description: This race offers the option of a 5k or 10k length. The race was first held one year after our town was destroyed by an EF 5 tornado in 2010. We added the 10k length the following year in honor of the loss of our longtime football coach Ed Thomas. This is a fun small town race that winds through our town. All money raised from this event will be donated to the town library project and the Ed Thomas Family Foundation.

A wonderful race for a wonderful cause! Ran the 10k and there were lots of hills but it made the course more exciting that way. What a great job the volunteers did and everything was very organized. Only part I didnt care for was running on the grass through the golf course as it’s hard to see if there are holes anywhere. I will be returning next year though! I did not stick around for post race but I am sure it was great.
Awesome race in an awesome town! I did the 10K route, and really loved the course and the hills.
It was a well organized race with the proceeds going toward a great cause. I will definitely talk my friends into participating next year!
Had a blast-living as close to Parkersburg as I do, i had not heard of this race until Friday May 27!!! My sister heard it on the radio, so we registered Saturday morning! Had a great time…the route was hilly, but it made it more challenging and more rewarding to finish! I did the 10k and will do it again next year! Very well marked route!!!I will encourage more friends and family to participate next year as well!
This was our first time running this race and we really enjoyed it. There’s something for everyone, hubby & I did the 10K, daughters did the 5K and Fun Run and we all had a great time. A few hills, but the course was a nice blend of in-town and rural. Well put together race, would definitely recommend.
This was a wonderful race. Everyone did a good job of putting it together. It was very hilly, but a lot of fun. I will do it again next year.
This was an amazing 5K. This being my first 5K run/walk, I didnt think the entry fee was out of line at all and the people running did a very good job. I look forward to walking in more 5K’s in the future and hope Parkersburg will continue with this EF5K for years to come.
Thanks a bunch!!!!!
