This was my first time running the Sturgis Falls 1/2 and I thought it was beautiful! I appreciated how easy and organized packet pick-up was. Race day was well organized as well. My only request would be more restrooms (restrooms seem to be in high demand at any race though!), and maybe 2 more water stations. I loved that the race was on the trails. The scenery was great! This race will definitely be one I run every year!

I loved the race overall! I hope next time they will have mile markers along the way. I personally need them to keep my pace and keep my time goal.

I too was disappointed about the shortened course. I understand the flooding caused it, but being suprised when my gps watch is telling me i have a mile left, but I can see the finish line… a little confusing. It would have been appropriate to let us know at the beginning that it was only 12.5 due to flooding. The course was nice though, volunteers were plentiful and very nice. I was very pleased with the cost, the course, the timing, and I liked the shirt too! I plan on doing this race again, hopefully next time it will be a full 13.1 though.

I was kind of disappointed with the shortened route this year. Nothing you can do about flooding, but maybe a notice to runners before they start off so they are not wondering why mile 10 suddenly appeared. The route is pretty much flat which makes for a great time. The Rec Center is also very nice for a shower and hang out by after the race. Results were posted rather quickly and the post race food/ water/ Gatorade was all good.

The route is pretty much run entirely in George Wyth Park, so if you like nature, great, if you like spectators cheering, then not so much. I was just running to get in some miles so the lack of crowds didn’t really bother me too much.

Once again, the cost is super cheap for a half, but you also get what you pay for:)

I did the 5K last year and enjoyed it, but am not use to hills where I normally run in CF. I didn’t realize, until now, that the finish medals were just for the 1/2 marathon. . . must be why I didn’t get one at the finish of the 5K last year.

Could be a little smoother/well organized with the jr.high/high school kids manning the water stops.

The firemen in full turnout gear are wonderful and amazing and an inspiration when out on the course with them.

Not a lot aftewards, seemed to either be over, or waitin for the half finishers. Plenty of beverages at the finish.

Shirt designs in 2009 were great.

This was my first time running Sturgis. The course was great for a sunny, hot morning. 95% shaded in George Wyth Park.

    - Very reasonable for a 1/2 Marathon
    - Well organized and the timing was super fast with the results
    - Few spectators along the way but the ones who did come out and cheer were great! Thank you to them.

I also agree w/ the previous comment and finisher medals. Now, I kinda feel bad b/c I didn’t know some people were left without.

The slower runners should get them too. I personally don’t care if I have one, so it would be nice to have an option were you can give your medal to someone else if they are in high demand.

Not much for post-race activities but with the cost being so reasonable, I can’t complain much. Will definitely try to do this one again next year.

Beautiful morning, great route, reasonable cost, plentiful and friendly volunteers, well-spaced aid stations…I had a wonderful time and look forward to doing it again next year.

My only complaint (and it isn’t much of one) is that not all finishers in the 1/2 get a finishers medal. Participants pay the same entry fee and run the same route. The materials do say that the 1st 350 finishers get a medal; however, it would be cool if ALL finishers got a medal. The ‘tail enders’ deserve a medal for being out there the longest time and having the persistance and drive to complete the 13.1 miles.

    Thanks for a great race!
