I’ve run this race a number of times, and it’s always a fun race and a big crowd (unless the weather’s really bad). Though a few corners are cut to save money and organizational hassle, it’s usually on my annual race calendar when I make it back to SW WI for Thanksgiving.
Great race! I ran it for the first time this year, and the hills on the 7.5 mile route will definately earn you that big thanksgiving dinner later.
Frozen turkeys as awards – neat idea! Could be a more organized post race party and refreshments, but I suppose many people want to get home for Thanksgiving anyway.
Overall, a fun event. I was suprised to see so many people come out on such a cold Thanksgiving morning to enjoy a very challenging run on the hilly streets of Dubuque.
When is the deadline for online registration?

How can we sign up ahead of time?
Good race. The 2.5 mile is a challenge with the last hill just prior to the finish. Demanding and fun. I have run this for five years and find the start command is always a surprise. Organizers should start with the Star Spangles Banner. They have an entire high school band and music department to choose from! This race is a bargin and you can do it with or without a shirt. After run food is sparce but you are going home for dinner so its not an issue. Difficult to hear the announcments in gym. Results are post soon after the last person is in. Draws a huge crowd considering the day. Many runners you never see a another race show up here. The awards are turkeys. Great family event, many family members running together. This race can be very cold.
I ran the 2.5 mile race and it was a good route with a nice change in pace from a 5K. There were about three hills that were challenging but not awful. The race was well organized for the number of people there, a great system set in place to keep everything together and flowing. Excellent start to the Thanksgiving Day.
This was my first time running in Dubuque and I loved it. The course was challenging with lots of hills. I was really surprised with the large number of runners who decide to race on Thanksgiving. The winners even got turkeys! I you have a chance to run this next year, I would recommend signing up. Well worth the VERY inexpensive entry fee.
