Ran the 1/2 in 2009 and was disappointed. There were only 2 porta-pots at the starting line and I remember only 1 water station the entire race. The route is pretty nice when you get to see the lake, but there was a lack of spectators which really was disappointing. Nearing the finish line we had to run through a parking lot where the traffic was not controlled. Very dangerous! I felt this race was not worth the entry fee. All we got was a cotton t-shirt. No medals or other goodies. Will not run this race again.

Beautiful area but a lousy race. There is just too much going on and I got the feeling that the race organizers got lost in the details. This last year was very hot (98 degrees) and there just weren’t enough people to help along the course. I saw other runners stopping to help fellow competitors who were clearly at their limit but there were no race marshals anywhere to be seen.

The bike portion of the triathlon was not well thought out. Part of the race went through town (not a problem) but there was no traffic control. Both I and the biker in front of me nearly got hit by a truck. Luckily, my brakes work well. An out and back course around the back of the lake would have been much safer.

I was also very disappointed in the overall lack of post race food. Vitamin water and bananas were it. And even they ran out before everybody finished. Can you imagine finishing a marathon or mid distance triathlon in 98 degree heat and not having anything to drink? Where did our registration money go?

On a good note, the swim portion of the race was beautiful

This was the worst race I have ever ran in. Several reasons.
    1. For the cost of $50.00 for my husband’s triathlon and $30.00 for the Half Marathon, we only received a shirt. No packet with goodies or anything.
    2. When my husband was doing the bike portion of this race, the course was out on the busy Highway without anyone to stop traffic. He was almost sideswiped twice and had to run red lights and stop signs and was worried for his safety.
    3. No food at the end. What were you all thinking? Seriously this was long race for all involved and you didn’t have food at the end? WHY? I heard there had been some bananas, but that’s it and you didn’t even have enough. This is unexceptable. You know how many sign up for the race and should have planned accordingly.
    4. This isn’t the first time you have planned so poorly. I was talking to some employees at Running Wild who mentioned to me that they ran that race a few years back and it was poorly organized then without food. If only I had spoke to them first before registering.
    5. The shuttle busses only were around at the end. Needed you at the beginning so we could park our car at the finish line. Would have been nice.
